Garsfontein cruised to an easy 73-22 win against Transvalia in their final league game of the season. With this win, Garsfontein ensured that they end number 1 on the VirSeker Cup 1stXV competition securing a home semi-final next weekend.
Garsfontein started the game without their four SA Schools players in a final dress rehearsal before the semifinal next weekend against Helpmekaar at home and must feel a lot more confident than before the game. All the replacements have shown that they are more than just adequate replacements with Dillon Olckers, scoring a hat-trick in the first half making us almost forget a boy called Zeilinga Strydom.
Garsfontein dominated play from the first second of the first half scoring their first try within 30 seconds from the kickoff and carried on to score seven tries to the one by Transvalia in the first half to lead 45-05.
In the second half, Transvalia managed to claw their way back into the game and almost matched Garsfontein when they scored three tries to the four scored by Garsfontein.
Garsfontein continued their physical style of rugby and Menlopark will need to find a way of countering the big boys of Garsfontein on attack and defence next weekend if they want to stand a chance to proceed to the VirSeker Cup finals.
