The VirSeker Cup competition is a month from the finals and the speculation of who will be crowned as champions is overshadowing the nasty reality of who will be relegated to the VirSeker Shield, with Garsfontein, EG Jansen and Noordheuwel at the bottom of the log at this stage.
The points are calculated as follow: A school can score a maximum of two points per game that they play, one for a win and one for arriving. However, it must be noted that this is only applicable for the 3 senior teams as well as the u/14, u/15 and u/16 A & B Teams.
Helpmekaar, Transvalia and Waterkloof have already played six fixtures while Menlopark, Monnas, Middelburg HTS, Garsfontein, EG Jansen and Noordheuwel have only played five fixtures.
At this stage, Helpmekaar leads with 77 points, followed by Menlopark(70), Monnas (68), Transvalia (68), Waterkloof (68), Middelburg HTS (65), Garsfontein (62), EG Jansen (60) and Noordheuwel (58).
However, if we take the average points each school scored up to date and the multiply that with the eight games each will play the situation change completely.
Menlopark is seemingly on their way to win the rugby competition with 112 points, followed by Monnas (109), Middelburg HTS (104), Helpmekaar (103), Garsfontein (99), EG Jansen (96), Noordheuwel (93) while Waterkloof and Transvalia share the last position with 91 points.
Waterkloof has a bye this weekend as they visit Affies while Helpmekaar host Garsfontein, Menlopark host Middelburg HTS, Noordheuwel host Transvalia and EG Jansen has the task to travel to Krugersdorp and face Monnas.
Fortunately, the calculator does not determine the team's performances on the field but after this week it should be a lot clearer on who is on their way down and who not.
